The quote that stops the campaign
A dental practice in Phoenix wants to remind 4,000 patients that their cleaning is due. The platform quotes a cent and a half a message, a monthly fee for a number to rent, and a brand registration to complete before the first text can go out. Six weeks later nothing has been sent. Meanwhile there are four Android phones in the office drawer, each on a plan with unlimited texts.
So we moved the gateway
One of those phones can send the reminders. It has a SIM, it has a plan, and that plan already includes texts. SharkSMS pairs it in about a minute and turns it into the gateway. WhatsApp links the same way, by scanning a code, and most of what now goes through the platform goes out that way. We charge a flat monthly fee for the dashboard, the automation and the API. We never charge for the message, because we never carry the message.

When SharkSMS is the wrong tool
It runs on consumer phones and consumer SIM plans. That is what makes it affordable, and it is also its limit. Some situations need something else, and it is cheaper for everyone if you know that now.
- You need a contractual delivery guarantee. We report what the network reports; we do not underwrite it.
- You need the official WhatsApp Business API with pre-approved templates. That is a different product with an approval process.
- Nobody can keep a phone powered and connected. The device does the sending; if it is off, nothing sends.
- The gateway has to be an Android phone. The app is installed from your dashboard rather than the Play Store, which is deliberate, and there is no iPhone version.
